The History of the Red Sox & Jillian’s Boston Lucky Strike

Baseball season is right around the corner! The Red Sox are back at Fenway on April 9th. At Lucky Strike we have shared a special relationship with the Boston Red Sox since we opened in the 1980s as a billiards club (Jillian’s Boston). Over 30 years we have supported each other in our achievements. Here are few things that we have witnessed together.

Right after our opening in the 1980s we witnessed the Red Sox win an East Division Title and AL Pennant as they competed in the 1986 World Series. Yes, we were there when the ball infamously went through the legs of Red Sox first basemen Bill Buckner for the Mets to clinch the World Series. We still supported them until they won their first World Series in 2004 to end the Curse of the Bambino and boy. Around this time we had a few renovations as well.  Our services grew and so did our locations. Instead of offering just billiards, we expanded to add bowling! We also expanded across the country to open numerous other Lucky Strike locations.

As the Red Sox continued to have successful seasons winning four more World Series and countless other titles, we grew as well. In 2017, we renovated the first floor into Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co. and the second floor back into an arcade complete with over 150 games. We can’t forget the most recent World Series win! This past year we were lucky enough to celebrate with the Red Sox as they clinched the 2018 World Series Title. We celebrated with them on the duck boats – Big Papi was a fan of Cheeky Monkey’s Wild Blueberry beer!

Over the years, we’ve had many visits from Red Sox players including, David Ortiz, Mookie Betts, Josh Beckett and more! Each year we love rooting for one of our favorite neighbors, nothing beats baseball season in Fenway. Be sure to join us at Lucky Strike this year to catch all the game day action right across the street from Fenway Park.
